FHS girls end week with win over Trimble

Frankfort High’s girls tennis team ended last week on a high note, defeating Trimble County 4-1 Thursday in Bedford.

The Lady Panthers lost two close matches earlier in the week, falling 3-2 to Gallatin County Wednesday in Warsaw and losing by the same score to Collins Tuesday at Juniper Hill.

FHS’ next match is Tuesday against Shelby County at Juniper Hill.

FHS 4, Trimble Co. 1

Singles – Jenna Miller (FH) def. Kalee Cook 6-1, 6-0; Lydia Miller (FH) def. Sabrina Vest 6-0, 6-0; MacKenzie Sanders (FH) 8-3.

Doubles – Trimble Co. won No. 1 doubles by forfeit, Georgia Ueltschi-Emily Ballantyne (FH) def. Ciarra Harmon-Whitney Wingham 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 6-3.

Exhibition – Diane Payton (TC) def. Mina Thomas 6-1.

Gallatin Co. 3,  FHS 2

Singles – Jenna Miller (FH) def. Savannah Clark 6-3, 6-2; Lydia Miller (FH) def. Rachel Noble 6-0, 6-0; Rendy White (GC) def. MacKenzie Sanders 6-2, 2-6, 6-0.

Doubles – Amelia Samuel-Jonna Ross (GC) def. Leighann Neal-Lydia Miller 6-4, 6-2, Deanna Griffin-Kristina Tunstall (GC) def. Georgia Ueltschi-Emily Ballantyne 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).

Collins 3, FHS 2

Singles – Paige Kregor (MLC) def. Jenna Miller 6-3, 6-1; Lydia Miller (FH) def. Blair Nethery 6-4, 7-5; Ashlee Quinn (MLC) def. MacKenzie Sanders 6-0, 8-6.

Doubles – Georgia Ueltschi-Emily Ballantyne (FH) def. Elizabeth Davis-Ashton Schneider 6-2, 6-0; Tatum Watson-Kaitlin Rice (MLC) def. Mina Thomas-Leighann Neal 8-4.

 

Wolverines win close one

The Western Hills’ boys tennis team swept the doubles matches to edge North Oldham 3-2 Friday in Goshen.

Both WHHS doubles teams played super tiebreakers in the third set, and both teams won to clinch the team victory for the Wolverines.

The Western Hills boys and girls teams will be playing at Shelby County Monday and at Collins High Tuesday.

Singles – Tyler Kilambi (NO) def. Henry Collett 6-1, 6-2; Robert Greenwell (WH) def. Hunter McKinlay 6-1, 6-3; Chris Chen (NO) def. Marco Fricker 6-2, 6-2.

Doubles – Trey Badgett-Kodey Hickman (WH) def. Hayden Whitelaw-Seth Wallace 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 10-4; Max Bringmann-Will Grasch (WH) def. Clay Hammonds-John Newton 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
