John Harnice tourney set for Saturday
The John Harnice Memorial tennis tournament, hosted by Franklin County’s boys tennis team, will be played Saturday at FCHS starting at 8:30 a.m.
The tournament has a field of six teams – FCHS, Western Hills, Anderson County, Danville, Eastern and Woodford County.
Woodford County’s Luke Least is the top-seeded singles player, and Eastern’s Keegan Rhines is the No. 2 seed.
In first-round singles matches involving local players, it’ll be Franklin County’s Alex Mucci vs. Western Hills’ Cameron Kenner and WHHS’ Henry Collett vs. Woodford County’s Adam Brown.
FCHS’ Drew Greenawalt has a first-round bye.
Eastern has the top-seeded doubles teams – Alex Ozier and Ryan McCulley are seeded No. 1, and Sean Leonard and Avery Collier are seeded No. 2.
For the local doubles teams, their first-round matches are as follows: FCHS’ Joshua Young and Stefan Ignat vs. Anderson County’s Luke Warford and Lowell Gordon, and FCHS’ Clay Marshall and Eric Lowe vs. WHHS’ Trey Badgett and Will Grasch.
FHS boys stop Gallatin 4-1
Frankfort High’s boys tennis team split two matches this week, defeating Gallatin County 4-1 Wednesday in Warsaw and falling to Bullitt East 3-2 Monday at the Kentucky State University courts.
FHS plays its next match Tuesday at Western Hills.

Western Hills Invitational begins today
The Western Hills Invitational softball tournament is being played today and Saturday at Lakeview Park.
The tournament gets underway tonight with 10 games.
Western Hills plays Shelby County at 5:30 p.m. and Henry County at 7.
Franklin County has a 5:30 game against Henry Clay, and at 8:30 the Lady Flyers take on Eastern.
The teams in this year’s tournament are WHHS, FCHS, Tates Creek, North Laurel, Eastern, Shelby County, Woodford County, Henry Clay, Christian Academy of Louisville, Henry County and Owen County.
On Saturday the Lady Wolverines and FCHS both play at 2 p.m. in the single-elimination portion of the tournament.
The semifinals are set for 5 p.m. with the championship game scheduled for 6:30.

Baseball boosters meet Monday
The Franklin County High School baseball booster club will meet Monday, April 30 at 6 p.m. in coach Deron McDonald’s classroom.
GOLF
Frankfort Rotary scramble is May 11
The Rotary Club of Frankfort’s annual golf scramble will be Friday, May 11 at Juniper Hill Golf Course.
The registration fee is $75 per player and includes Staxx barbecue lunch, golf with cart, goody bag, contest holes, prizes for first and second place and a golf shirt.
Mulligans may be purchased on the day of the outing for $10 apiece (limit of two per golfer).
There is a hole-in-one prize of a 2012 Ford Focus.
Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m., and there will be a shotgun start for the scramble at 1 p.m.
