FCHS’ Cook gets 2nd at Scott Co. all-comers
GEORGETOWN – Several members of Franklin County’s track and field team competed in an all-comers meet at Scott County Wednesday.
The best finish for FCHS was turned in by Rebecca Cook, who was second in the 400-meter dash in 1 minute, 4.3 seconds.
The Lady Flyers were sixth with 25 points.
Their other points came from Kambrea Johnson and Kristen Ellis in the discus and shot put.
Johnson was third in the discus with a throw of 82 feet, 4 inches, and Ellis was sixth at 70 feet, 7.5 inches.
In the shot put Johnson was fourth at 31 feet, 10 inches, and Ellis was sixth at 28 feet, 8.5 inches.
Tighe Harrod was the only member of the FCHS boys team to compete.
He took third in the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet, good for six points.
Cornhole tourney set for May 12
The Western Hills FFA Alumni chapter is sponsoring a double-elimination amateur cornhole tournament on Saturday, May 12. Registration starts at 10 a.m. in the school parking lot (inside the gym if rain) and games begin at 10:15.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place and drawings for door prizes will take place throughout the day.
Entry fees are $15 per person or $25 per team and due by May 6.
