Timmons wins 100-meter at CKC
DANVILLE – Franklin County’s Ryan Timmons won the 100-meter dash at the Central Kentucky Conference track and field meet Friday at Admiral Stadium.
Timmons won the race in 11.06 seconds, and the win accounted for all of Franklin County’s points in the team standings.
The Lady Flyers finished 11th in the team standings with 17 points. Boyle County and Henry Clay tied for the top spot with 113.5 points each.
Mercer County won the boys team title with 163 points, and Henry Clay was runner-up with 153.5 points. FCHS finished 14th with 10 points.

PREP TENNIS
Regional tournament begins Monday
The Eighth Region tennis tournaments start Monday at Franklin County and Western Hills.
Frankfort High, Franklin County and Western Hills will all be competing in the tournaments.
Play starts Monday at 9:30 a.m. with the boys tournament at FCHS and the girls tournament at WHHS. The schedule calls for two rounds to be completed Monday.
On Tuesday the tournament resumes at 4:30 p.m. with the boys’ third round at Franklin County and the girls’ third round at Western Hills.
The semifinals for both the boys and girls will be played at FCHS Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. with the boys and girls finals scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday at FCHS.
FRANKFORT HIGH
Lady Panthers beat LCA on Senior Night
Frankfort High’s softball team honored its seniors Thursday at Capitol View Park versus Lexington Christian Academy.
Seniors Shelby Aldridge, Sheree Brown and Aubrey Penn all came out playing strong and the team defeated LCA 12-2 in five innings.
Kayla Hortenbury was the winning pitcher for Frankfort with eight strikeouts.
Those with hits for FHS were Aldridge with two doubles and a single, Maya Burke with one double and two singles, Aubrey Penn with two singles, and Macy Hutcherson, Sheree Brown and Hannah Davis each with a single.
The Lady Panthers (5-10) play their next game Monday at Williamstown.
BASEBALL
14U tryouts Saturday
Tryouts for a 14-under baseball team will take place Saturday, May 12 at the Kentucky State University baseball field.
Registration is at 5:30 p.m., and the tryout will be from 6 until dark.
The team is looking for 11 players, and if selected the cost will be $300 per player. The team will compete in tournaments and doubleheaders in June, July and August.
Those trying out should wear baseball pants, T-shirt, cleats and hat, and they need to bring their own glove, bat and drinks.
