PREP BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

District pairings set

The pairings and schedules for the 41st District baseball and softball tournaments have been set.

The district baseball tournament is being played at Franklin County.

FCHS and Woodford County tied for first place in the district at 5-1, and the Flyers won the coin toss for the No. 1 seed.

Franklin County and Frankfort will play Tuesday, May 22 at 5:30 p.m., followed by Western Hills vs. Woodford at 8.

The championship game will be played Wednesday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m.

The district softball tournament is being played at Woodford County.

Woodford, the No. 1 seed, plays Frankfort at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, and Franklin County and Western Hills will square off at 7:30.

The winners of Tuesday’s games will meet in the championship game Thursday, May 24 at 6 p.m.

 

GOLF

Webb wins Kentucky Jr. Masters

Jordan Webb of Frankfort won the girls division of the Kentucky Junior Masters Championship which took place Saturday and Sunday at Champion Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville.

Webb shot a two-day total of 154 (76-78) to win by one stroke over Megan Kinney of Frankfort and Grace Rose of Nicholasville.

Rose shot a 75 Saturday to lead Webb by one shot and Kinney by two. 

Webb and Kinney both shot 78 Sunday while Rose fired an 80.

Connor Haas and Fred Allen Meyer of Nicholasville and Ashton Van Horne of Georgetown all shot a two-day total of 146. 

Haas won the tournament with a birdie on the fourth hole of a sudden death playoff.
