Franklin County’s Brooke Barber and Sydney Preston will begin play in the state tennis tournament Thursday at Shillito Park in Lexington.
Barber and Preston will meet the doubles team of Sydney Davis and Lauren Riney of Elizabethtown. The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
A win would put the Lady Flyers in the second round, where they could face Rose Hills’ Alex Billups and Leslie Stringer, who are seeded fifth.
After the first two rounds Thursday the tournament moves to the University of Kentucky Friday. It concludes Saturday.
