LEXINGTON - Elkhorn’s Rebecca Cook and Bondurant’s Alissa May both won events at the KTCCCA Middle School State Championships in track and field Saturday at Dunbar.
Cook won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 27.61 seconds.
May claimed first place in the shot put with a toss of 37 feet, 6 inches.
Elkhorn’s Landon Hurst was third in the 200-meter dash in 23.69 seconds, and he took sixth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.98.
Kirsten Pilcher of Capital Day placed fourth in the shot put at 35-01.
Also placing in the top eight and garnering points for their teams were Bondurant’s Ashley Lawhorn, sixth in the 800-meter run and eighth in the 1,600-meter run, and Dylan Tackett, eighth in the discus with a throw of 106-9.
Bondurant’s girls were 17th out of 58 teams with 14 points. Elkhorn tied for 25th with 10 points, and Capital Day placed 41st with five points.
On the boys side Elkhorn was 24th out of 60 teams with nine points, and Bondurant tied for 54th place with one point.
Good Shepherd also competed in the meet.
