More than 300 people attended the open house May 26 at the Archery Park at Cove Spring despite 90-degree temperatures and it being a holiday weekend.
“The 3D range was a big hit and everyone seemed impressed with the new archery park,” said Mike Hockensmith of the Frankfort Parks and Recreation Department. “The majority in attendance were youth, but we also had numerous adults attend that were first time archers and several that said they haven’t shot since they were kids.”
The archery park will host 3D League June 7 and will be divided into four separate divisions: NASP – NASP rules (grades 4-12) 10 yards; Youth - ages 9-13 (grades 4-8) 20 yards; Young Adult – ages 14-18 (grades 9-12) 30 yards; and Adult – 19 and older, 30 yards.
The league will run for five weeks, shooting one night each week and concluding on July 5. The cost of the league is $25.
There will be an archery clinic for beginner archers, all ages welcome from age 6 and older. The two-hour clinic will be held on June 9, and more details will be available at time of registration. The cost of the clinic is $10.
Normal archery park hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-9 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
