Many local athletes selected for all-state

The Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association (KTCCCA) has released its 2012 all-state track and field teams.

In Class 2A Western Hills’ Alisha Adair was named first team all-state in the 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes, all events she won at the state meet last month.

WHHS’ 4x400-meter relay team, which took first at state, was also named first team all-state. Running on the relay team at state were Harper Jones, Anna Curlin, Alaina Hall and Adair.

Aja Leachman of Western Hills is first team all-state in the discus throw, and Franklin County’s Kambrea Johnson is first team all-state in the shot put.

FCHS’ Ryan Timmons earned first team all-state honors after winning the 100 and 200-meter dashes at state.

Named second team all-state for Class 2A boys was WHHS’ Cameron Murphy in the 300-meter hurdles.

For Class 2A girls, local athletes named second team all-state were Curlin in the 400-meter dash and the long jump, Hall in the 300-meter hurdles, and Johnson in the discus throw.

Frankfort High’s Aaron Jackson was named first team all-state for Class A boys in the long jump, which he won at state.

FHS’ Cailyn Jouett earned second team all-state honors for Class A girls in the shot put.
