Baseball boosters meet today

The Franklin County baseball booster club will meet today at 6 p.m. in the computer lab at FCHS.

Nominations for booster club officers will be taken at this meeting, and voting for the new officers will take place at the July booster club meeting.

 

FALL BALL

Early signups underway

Early registration is underway for fall baseball/softball with the Frankfort Parks and Recreation Department.

Registration started Monday and runs through June 22. The cost is $50.

Baseball is open to children ages 9-11 and is based on the child’s age as of May 1, 2012.

Softball is open to children ages 9-11 and is based on the child’s age as of Aug. 1, 2012.

Baseball games and practices will be held at Paul Weddle Field (State Stadium), and softball games and practices will be held at Lakeview Park.

Pitching machines will be used.

The schedule for the leagues is as follows:

Week of Aug. 5 – draft

Week of Aug. 12 – practices begin

Week of Aug. 26 – games begin

Oct. 6 – all games will conclude on or before this date.

Registration forms are available at the Juniper Hill office and during games at Lakeview Park, Minor League baseball fields and at Paul Weddle Field.

 

BONDURANT

Football meeting is today

A meeting for all students interested in playing football at Bondurant Middle School this fall and their parents will be held today at 7:30 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria.

 

SOCCER

FCHS youth soccer camp scheduled

The sixth annual Franklin County High School Youth Soccer Camp will be held July 16-19 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the FCHS practice fields located in the rear of Lakeview Park.

The camp is for both boys and girls ages 6-13. The camp teaches group and individual soccer skills, positions on the field and their purpose and strategy, as well as small-sided games to emphasize proper passing and teamwork. 

College and high school soccer coaches and players will lead the campers every day in group drills and individual instruction.

GOLF

City tourney is June 23-24

The Frankfort City Championship will be June 23-24 at Juniper Hill Golf Course. The tournament is open to both men and women.  

The entry deadline is Wednesday, June 20 at noon. The entry fee will be $25 plus applicable course fees.

Simon House scramble is June 29

The “Build a House for Simon House” 18-hole golf scramble will be Friday, June 29 at Juniper Hill Golf Course.

Registration and lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., and the scramble will have a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

The format is a four-person team that will play scramble with a twist – “Simon Says.”

Early registration is $60 if received by June 23, and after June 23 the registration is $65.

For Juniper Hill members the early registration fee is $40, and the late registration fee is $45. 

That includes lunch from Staxx BBQ, golf with a cart and goody bag. There will be contest holes, and prizes will be awarded to the top teams.

Hole sponsorships are available.

City junior tourney is June 26

The Chenault & Hoge City Junior Championship will be Tuesday, June 26 at Juniper Hill Golf Course. 

The entry deadline will be Saturday, June 23 at noon, and the entry fee is $10.

Chamber scramble is Friday

The Frankfort Chamber annual golf scramble will be Friday, June 15 at Juniper Hill Golf Course.

Registration is $65 per player or $260 for a team.

The entry fee includes cart, green fees, goody bag, lunch and two drink tickets.

There will be two start times. The morning session will have registration at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8. A minimum of 10 teams is required to hold the morning session.

The afternoon session will have registration at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
