Franklin County assistant softball coach Ted Marlette and former FCHS pitcher Amy Eichhorn will be inducted into the Kentucky Prep Softball Hall of Fame this weekend.
Marlette has been an assistant coach with the Lady Flyers for nearly 20 years. Eichhorn, a 2003 graduate of FCHS, was a standout pitcher for Franklin County.
The induction ceremony is part the Kentucky East-West All-Star Weekend at the University of Louisville.
McKenna Brown of Western Hills and Macy Johnson of Franklin County have been named to the East Junior squad made up of players from Regions 9-16.
One of the coaches for the Junior East team will be Jerry Comley, an assistant coach at Western Hills.
In Class 2A Brown earned honorable mention all-state, and FCHS sophomore Kara Howard was named second team all-state.
BASEBALL
FCHS’ Arnold earns honor
Zach Arnold, who graduated from Franklin County last month, has been named second team all-state in baseball.
Arnold, a catcher, has signed with the University of Kentucky. He was drafted in the 27th round by the New York Mets earlier this month.
GOLF
Flyer Dance Team golf scramble is July 23
The Flyer Dance Team will host its annual golf scramble at Juniper Hill Golf Course on Monday, July 23.
The cost per player in each four-man team is $45. Prizes will be awarded for first place, with door prizes and a silent auction.
Lunch will be provided at noon with tee-off at 1 p.m.
The team is currently asking for hole sponsorships ($50, $100, $150) and prize donations.
