Legends hosting health event for children Saturday

Special to The State Journal Published:

The Lexington Legends are stepping up to the plate on Saturday to help local kids get healthy.

The Legends are teaming up with Minor League Baseball, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, and Sanofi US to host a free Play4Health event to teach kids how to live healthier and more active lifestyles.

Children ages 6-14 will be able to take part in activities led by celebrity health and wellness expert Rafy Oquendo (who has trained some of baseball’s best players), and can get their picture taken with some of the Legends players.

Participants will receive a goodie bag and one free admission for the Lexington Legends vs. Rome Braves game that night at 7:05 p.m. Parents/family members can purchase tickets at a discount.

Gates open for the event at the Whitaker Bank Ballpark at 8:30 a.m. and the festivities run through noon, rain or shine. Kids should come dressed and ready to play on the field.
