DeNigris paces WHHS girls at Shelby County Invitational

SHELBYVILLE – Western Hills’ cross country teams competed in the Shelby County Invitational Saturday.

Dove DeNigris led the Lady Wolverines, placing 23rd in a time of 22 minutes, 21.97 seconds.

Also running for WHHS were Abbie Weeks, 77th in 27:24.33; Marissa Mitchell, 84th in 28:52.31; Emilee Agee, 88th in 29:50.38; Alexis Hager, 90th in 30:49.85; and Alexis Wilson, 96th in 38:26.62.

The Lady Wolverines were 10th in the team standings.

WHHS’ Keenan Jones finished 10th in a time of 17:50.29 to lead the Wolverines. Tyler Nix was 25th in 18:42.00, Jacob Anderson was 86th in 22:36.30, and Nathan Simpson was 88th in 22:58.13.

The Wolverines didn’t have enough runners for a team score. Both varsity races covered 5,000 meters.

Western Hills’ next meet is North Oldham’s Rumble through the Jungle Saturday.
