Flyers finish 12th at Ryle

UNION – Franklin County competed in the Ryle Cross Country Invitational Saturday.

The FCHS girls team finished 15th with a score of 377.

Freshman Ashley Lawhorn led the Lady Flyers with a 13th-place finish in a time of 20 minutes, 43.9 seconds.

Also running for Franklin County were Jamie Beason, 76th in 23:48.7; Kater Riddle, 107th in 25:53.9; Taylor Bochantin, 113th in 26:48.1; Joanna Parsons, 114th in 26:48.4; Sydney Strickland, 119th in 27:37.6; and Micheala Just, 125th in 31:01.3.

The Flyers were 12th with a score of 352 in the boys race.

Miles Riggs had FCHS’ top finish, placing 49th in 18:02.8. The other Franklin County runners were Brian Wyatt, 56th in 18:09.3; Bradley Bennett, 68th in 18:22.4; Thomas Stone, 75th in 18:28.7; Joe Cheek, 123rd in 19:52.9; Adam Stiles, 167th in 24:25.9; Tommy Parsons, 168th in 24:36.1.

Both races covered 5,000 meters.

Franklin County’s next meet is Saturday at the Grant County Invitational.
