DANVILLE – The Franklin County boys JV soccer team came from behind to win its game at Boyle County Thursday night, 3-1.
The Rebels scored first with 20:40 remaining in the first half on a goal by Michael Steinhower.
The Flyers remained scoreless until junior Jason Soto blasted a ball past the keeper assisted by freshman Steven Zuniga with only two seconds remaining in the half.
“Seems like we’re playing the same game over and over again,” FCHS JV coach Eric Ashcraft said. “Having to come from behind seems to be the new JV Flyers’ style of play. Going down early in the first half 1-0 is nothing new to the JV boys. After we gave up the goal, we picked up the intensity and carried it the rest of the half and it finally paid off.”
Freshman Tyrone Hayden scored at the 13:44 mark of the second half on an assist from sophomore Dawson Willis to give the Flyers the lead. With only 2:51 remaining, junior Bryce Prothero scored the final goal of the game.
“The second half showed a better team coming out and scoring two goals to put the game out of reach and to give us the win,” Ashcraft said. “I don’t like this playing from behind style of play. I would like to score first and hold the lead. But the boys have been playing great late into games and that’s all I can ask for.”
The Flyers (5-1-1) play in the FCHS JV Cup Saturday at Lakeview Park.
