Cross Country: Lawhorn 7th at Grant County

SHERMAN – Franklin County’s Ashley Lawhorn finished seventh in the Grant County Invitational cross country meet Saturday.

Lawhorn covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of 21 minutes, 9.7 seconds.

The Lady Flyers finished 10th in the varsity team standings with 262 points.

Also running for FCHS were Jamie Beason, 58th in 24:23.3; Kater Riddle, 69th in 25:01.7; Taylor Bochantin, 86th in 27:04.5; Sydney Strickland, 90th in 27:29.5; Celia Ritter, 96th in 28:23.4; and Micheala Just, 103rd in 31:07.7.

In the boys varsity race Miles Riggs was 35th with the top finish for the Flyers.

He ran the 5,000 meters in 18:35.7, followed by Bradley Bennett, 51st in 19:08.2; Thomas Stone, 71st in 19:43.5; Hunter Mantor, 134th in 22:46.0; and Adam Stiles, 141st in 25:05.5.

The Flyers were 18th in the team standings.

The next meet for the Franklin County teams is Scott County’s Double “S” Stampede Saturday.
