Girls Golf: Lady Wolverines third at Madison Southern tourney

The Western Hills girls golf team finished in third place out of 11 teams in the Madison Southern Tournament this past Sunday at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond.

Boyle County finished first with a score of 346, followed by Dunbar at 361. The WHHS team score was 371.

WHHS’ Megan Kinney finished in second place overall with a score of one-over par 73. Other team scores were Anna Hawkins 93, Peyton Silva 101, Hanna Raymer 104 and Allison Harrod 126. Gibson Bay will be the host site for the high school girls golf Region 7 Tournament on Monday, Sept. 24.

Kinney also competed in the Bowling Green Invitational Tournament at Bowling Green Country Club on Saturday and finished ninth overall with a score of 77. Bowling Green Country Club is the host site for the high school girls and boys golf state tournaments in October.

The Lady Wolverines have matches this week on Wednesday against Henry Clay High School at Lakeside Golf Course in Lexington and the Frankfort Cup against Franklin County High School at the Frankfort Country Club on Thursday.
