The Franklin County boys JV soccer team played the second game of the evening on Tuesday night at Sower Soccer Complex against Richmond Model. The Flyers defeated the Patriots 2-1.
Both teams remained scoreless in the first half until sophomore Joe Meyer scored the Flyers’ first goal on an assist from freshman Seiver Tandy with 15 minutes remaining.
The Flyers scored again when sophomore Dawson Willis hit the back of the net from a few feet in front of the goal.
The Patriots answered with one minute remaining in the half on a goal by Dylan Hornsby.
The defenses of both teams shut down the offensive attack in the second half and neither team scored a goal.
“The boys came out with an intensity I haven’t seen this season,” Flyers JV coach Eric Ashcraft said. “They were mentally ready to play and they performed well. Scoring two goals in the first half was all we needed. Even when Model scored a goal, we didn’t let down.”
The Franklin County boys JV (9-2-1) travel to Dunbar Tuesday night.
