Regional tournaments begin this week

The 11th Region tournaments in volleyball, boys soccer and girls soccer get underway this week.

The volleyball tournament is at Madison Southern, the girls soccer at Woodford County, and the boys soccer at Henry Clay.


Franklin County begins tournament play Monday, taking on Henry Clay in the second match of the night.

Dunbar meets Madison Southern at 6 p.m., and the Lady Flyers will play 20 minutes after the conclusion of that match.

The lower bracket games will be played Tuesday – it’s Madison Central versus Scott County at 6 p.m., followed by Woodford County taking on Tates Creek at approximately 7.

Boys soccer

Franklin County, the 41st District champion, plays Tuesday in the final game of the first round.

The Flyers and Scott County will meet Tuesday at 8 p.m. The first game Tuesday is Dunbar versus Madison Southern at 6.

The other first-round games will be played Monday. Model faces Woodford County at 6 p.m., and Henry Clay takes on Lexington Catholic at 8.

The semifinals will be played Thursday with Monday’s winners meeting at 6 p.m. and Tuesday’s winners squaring off at 8.

The championship match is set for Saturday at 1 p.m.

Girls soccer

Franklin County and Lexington Catholic will meet in the first round Tuesday at 8 p.m. It’s the final game of the first round.

Madison Central and Henry Clay will meet in Tuesday’s first game at 6 p.m.

On Monday it’s Woodford County versus Madison Southern at 6 p.m., and Scott County versus Tates Creek at 8.

Monday’s winners will meet in the first semifinal Thursday at 6 p.m., and Tuesday’s winners will play the second semifinal at 8.

The championship match will be played Saturday at 7 p.m.
