Adair sets one record, ties another at Wildcat Classic

LEXINGTON – Western Hills senior Alisha Adair set one meet record and tied another at the University of Kentucky Wildcat High School Classic Saturday at Nutter Fieldhouse.

Adair won the 200-meter dash in a record time of 25.34 seconds. That broke the record of 25.67 she set last year.

In the 60-meter dash Adair won in 7.72 seconds, tying the record set by Tiffany Rogers in 2009.


Flyers fall to Henry Clay

LEXINGTON – Henry Clay’s boys basketball team jumped out to a 17-point lead after the first quarter and kept control the rest of the way, defeating Franklin County 91-54 Friday night.

The Blue Devils (16-3) led 48-25 at halftime and 77-44 at the end of three quarters.

Rylan Rowe led FCHS (6-9) in scoring with 18 points, and Lorenzo McCaskell finished in double figures with 13 points.

Also scoring for the Flyers were Chris Roberts with nine points, Jimmy Harrod with seven, Conner Meyer, Ryan Schneider and Samuel Mackey with two points each, and Greg Maupin with one point.

Christen Cunningham scored a game-high 20 points for Henry Clay, and teammate Jordan Green was close behind with 19.

Franklin County plays its next game Tuesday at Scott County.



boosters to meet Jan. 29

The Western Hills football booster club will meet Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. in the library at WHHS.


K of C hosting

free throw competition Jan. 27

The 2013 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition will be held Jan. 27 in the Good Shepherd Elementary School Gym.

This competition is open to boys and girls ages 10 to 14 as of Jan. 1, 2013 and will be separated for boys and girls of every age. Proof of age is requested.

The event is free and prizes are awarded. Registration begins at 2 p.m., and the competition starts at 2:30. Winners advance to district competition.

League needs head coaches

The Frankfort Youth Football League is looking for overall head coaches for the Rams, Raiders and Cowboys.

The league is also looking for cheer coaches for all the organization’s teams.

An application to apply for a coaching position can be found by going to the FYFL website and clicking on “downloads.”

Applications should be mailed to FYFL, P.O. Box 1261, Frankfort, KY 40602. The application deadline is Feb. 8.
