WRESTLING

Flyers in State Duals Saturday

Franklin County’s wrestling team will be competing in the small school division of the State Duals Saturday at Fern Creek High School in Louisville.

The other teams in the small school division are Union County, Fort Campbell, Scott High, Walton Verona, Johnson Central, Paul Blazer, Wayne County, McCreary Central, Moore, LaRue County and Central.

FCHS qualified for the State Duals by finishing second in the Section 5 tournament to Moore.

The Flyers placed ninth last year in State Duals.

Gun, bow

safety class

is Saturday

Camp Pleasant Baptist Church, 830 Shadrick Ferry Rd., is sponsoring a gun and bow safety class beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday. This event is open the public and will be held in the youth worship center.

The class is for ages 12 through adults and will be taught by Darrell Hoskins, a 15-year veteran instructor for Kentucky Fish and Wildlife. Equipment will be provided; participants do not need to bring their own.

boosters to meet Jan. 29

The Western Hills football booster club will meet Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. in the library at WHHS.

JHGA to

elect officers Saturday

The Juniper Hill Golf Association will meet 10 a.m. Saturday to elect officers for 2013. The meeting will take place in the clubhouse, and all members are urged to attend.

BASKETBALL

K of C to host free throw competition Sunday

The 2013 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition will be held Sunday in the Good Shepherd Elementary School Gym. This competition is open to boys and girls ages 10 to 14 as of Jan. 1, 2013 and will be separated for boys and girls of every age. Proof of age is requested.

The event is free and prizes are awarded. Registration begins at 2 p.m., and the competition starts at 2:30. Winners advance to district competition. For more information, call Alan Hamilton at 695-7290.

FYFL

League looking for coaches

The Frankfort Youth Football League is looking for overall head coaches for the Rams, Raiders and Cowboys.

The league is also looking for cheer coaches for all the organization’s teams.

An application to apply for a coaching position can be found by going to the FYFL website www.thefyfl.com and clicking on “downloads.”

Applications should be mailed to FYFL, P.O. Box 1261, Frankfort, KY 40602. The application deadline is Feb. 8.
