Flyers fall to Lex. Christian

LEXINGTON – Franklin County’s boys basketball team lost to Lexington Christian Academy 74-68 Saturday night.

The Flyers led after the first two quarters at 18-17 and 34-32. LCA (9-15) took a 49-48 lead into the fourth quarter.

Rylan Rowe led FCHS with 25 points, and Chris Roberts had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Ryan Schneider was in double figures for the Flyers with 15 points. Rounding out the team’s scoring were Samuel Mackey with nine points, Conner Meyer with five, and Lorenzo McCaskell with two points. Schneider had seven assists, and Roberts had two blocked shots. The Eagles were led in scoring by Tyler Harville with 27 points.

FCHS plays its next game at home Tuesday against North Oldham.

Wetherby DU plans banquet

The Frankfort Wetherby Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold its annual banquet at the Frankfort Country Club 6 p.m. March 8. Those attending the event will have the opportunity to purchase or win several unique special edition Ducks Unlimited items.

Items needed for yard sale

The Frankfort Youth Football League is accepting donations for a yard sale planned for late spring. The yard sale will be a fundraiser for lights at Harrod Field, the home of the FYFL, in Capitol View Park. Those interested in donating items may call to have the donations picked up, or the items may be dropped off.

Baseball boosters hosting bingo

The Franklin County Baseball Booster Club is sponsoring bingo every Tuesday at 859 East Main St., formerly Frankfort Athletic Center. Doors open at 6 p.m., and bingo starts at 7.

Officials clinic is Wednesday

There will be a USA track and field officials certification clinic 6 p.m. Wednesday at Kentucky State University’s Alumni Stadium. Anyone interested in becoming a certified track and field official is invited to attend.
