Next Pro.Active class Wednesday

Dr. Charley Carlson will be the next guest speaker in the Pro.Active for Life 5K educational series.  

Carlson will be discussing “Setting Goals, Keys to Success” 7 p.m. Wednesday at 316 Wilkinson Street (the Striders’ meeting house).  

This series is free and open to the public and is offered as part of the training for the May 17 Pro.Active for Life 5K run/walk.

Free speed clinic set for April 21

Western Hills High School track and field assistant coach Christian Adair will host a free speed clinic for elementary age athletes 4 p.m. April 21 at the Western Hills High School track complex.

Football boosters

to meet Tuesday

The Western Hills football booster club will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday at Western Hills High School.

Football boosters selling mulch, bulbs

The WHHS Football Booster Club is selling mulch and bulbs through March 27.

Black platinum mulch is $4.75 per 2.25 cu. ft. bag and the premium cypress mulch is $4.75 per 2.0 cu. ft. bag. The bulbs range from $11-$15.

Football team selling mulch

The Franklin County football team is selling mulch by the bag, scoop or truckload through Monday, April 22.

The cost is $5 for a 2.25 cu. ft. nursery bag, or $6 per bag and the team will spread the mulch.

Scoops are $25 picked up at the school, $35 delivered to your home or business, or for $60 it is delivered and spread. One scoop covers approximately 125 square feet.

Grade A cypress is also available this year for $8.50 for a 3 cu. ft. bag or $9.50 per bag and the team will spread the mulch.

Wednesday Ladies League to meet

The Wednesday Ladies Day Golf League will have its organizational meeting 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Juniper Hill Golf Course.

Weather permitting, ladies will play after the meeting. Official league play will begin 9 a.m. April 3. The format will be make your own foursome. 

Late Swingers League to meet

The Late Swingers Golf League will meet 6 p.m. Thursday at the Juniper Hill Golf Course Clubhouse.

Lady Flyer Scramble set for April 12

The Lady Flyer Golf Scramble is scheduled for April 12 at Juniper Hill Golf Course.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., and the scramble will start at 1 p.m.

The cost is $60 per player, $240 per team.  Hole sponsorships are available for $100.

Combs Memorial Fundraiser April 12

The fifth annual Monica Combs Memorial Fundraiser will be April 12 at Frankfort Country Club.

The golf scramble will have a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The cost is $400 per team or $100 per person and includes greens fees, cart and dinner.

A dinner, dance and auction will take place beginning at 6:30 p.m. at a cost of $50 per guest.

The Monica Combs Memorial Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance for the post-secondary education of students graduating from Woodford County High School.

Clinics coming up at Juniper

Spring golf training continues this week at Juniper Hill Golf Course with clinics on putting and chipping.

The following clinics are scheduled: Monday (Full Swing, 5-6 p.m.); Wednesday (Full Swing, 5-6 p.m.); and Friday (Home Run Derby, 5-6 p.m.).

Items needed for yard sale

The Frankfort Youth Football League is accepting donations for a yard sale planned for late spring. The yard sale will be a fundraiser for lights at Harrod Field, the home of the FYFL, in Capitol View Park. Those interested in donating items may call to have the donations picked up, or the items may be dropped off.
