The Western Hills Wolverine boys varsity and JV soccer teams traveled to Cynthiana Tuesday to play the Harrison County High School Thorobreds. Both teams played tough defense but the Wolverines (4-0-1) came away with a 1-0 victory on a close goal by senior Michael Hatfield.
“Not our best game but we’re happy with the win,” WHHS coach Daniel Cowan said. “Andrew Bates and Sri Balaji both had amazing games and played a big role in the win.”
Bates played goalkeeper for the Wolverines and had numerous saves. Keeper Christian Carey had several saves for the Thorobreds (4-2).
In the first game of the night, the Wolverine JV team won 3-1 on goals from Cy Stutzenberger, Hayden Hoover and Lucas Goss. In at goal for the Wolverines was Keegan Dailey.
The Wolverines next outing is against Scott County 7 p.m. Thursday at Sower Soccer Complex.
