Wesley Rowsey of Garrard County recovered a Western Hills fumble on the Golden Lions' 5-yard line with one minute left to seal an 8-7 win by Garrard County Friday night in Lancaster.
WHHS quarterback Nick Young had gained 11 yards around the right side on the play but was stripped of the ball at the end of it.
The bad luck spoiled a great effort on both sides of the ball for the Wolverines, who fell to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the district. WHHS outgained the Golden Lions 329-194 yards.
The Wolverines scored early on an 83-yard pass from Young to Nick Lockett. GCHS went on top late in the second quarter on a 32-yard pass from quarterback Jacob Foley to Jacob Smith and a run by Bradley Rector for the two-point conversion.
