Western Hills' football team closed out the home portion of its schedule with a 48-33 loss to Powell County Friday.
The Pirates (6-3) scored twice in the first 2 1/2 minutes of the game as quarterback Matt Brooks hit Brett Goodwin with touchdown passes of 60 and 39 yards.
Powell led 26-14 at halftime, but WHHS (1-8) battled back to take a 27-26 lead in the first minute of the fourth quarter on an 18-yard run by Nick Lockett and a point-after kick by J.P. Isaacs.
The Pirates' Zach Spencer returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, and the Wolverines didn't get closer than seven points the rest of the way.
Western Hills closes out its season Friday at Shelby County.
