Lady Wolverines win in overtime
NEW CASTLE — Western Hills’ girls basketball team evened its record at 1-1 with an overtime win at Henry County Thursday.
WHHS led 15-10 after the first quarter and 23-22 at halftime, but Henry County took a 33-27 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth the Lady Wolverines outscored Henry County 18-12 to force overtime.
Taylor Slade led WHHS with 15 points, followed by LaKenzie Ritchie with 11, Becca Harrod with eight, Samantha Roberts with seven, Aja Leachman with five, Alexis True and Taylor Vance with four points each, and Kayla Hortenbury with two points.
Henry County (1-1) was led in scoring by Cheyenne Clark with 15 points.
Western Hills’ game Saturday with West Jessamine was cancelled because of inclement weather.The Lady Wolverines play their next game at home Tuesday against Woodford County.
Adams joins Warhorses staff
Dr. D. Kurt Adams of Adams Chiropractic in Frankfort has been selected to join the new Bluegrass Warhorses indoor football team’s medical staff as the team chiropractor.
Adams has eight years of team chiropractor experience including his service during the Kentucky Horsemen’s 2004 championship season.
The Bluegrass Warhorses will play their home games at Alltech Arena in Georgetown. The new season starts in February.

JHGA meeting Saturday
The Juniper Hill Golf Association will hold a general membership meeting at the pro shop Saturday at 10 a.m.
The agenda will consist of a season recap and the election of officers. Fund-raising for the 50th Governor’s Open will be discussed.
WHHS wrestlers place at Bullitt East
Western Hills’ wrestling team had three wrestlers place in the top three at the Bullitt East tournament last weekend.
Davis Nesselrode took first place in the 132-pound weight class with a 3-0 record. Luke Yang, wrestling in the same class, was second with a 2-1 record.
Jacob Smith placed third in the 160-pound weight class.
EMS 3-2 in ‘Pitman’ Duals
The Elkhorn Middle School wrestling team hosted its annual Elkhorn “Pitman” Duals last Saturday with many of this year’s top teams from around the state attending.
Elkhorn went 3-2 in duals, losing to eventual runner-up Twenhofel and beating Anderson Boyle counties.
EMS’ Ricky Purvis, Bailey Bixler, Nathaniel Lawrence and Jermez Herring each went 5-0 on the day.
