Kentucky State men's basketball team falls to No. 11 Southern Indiana

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Kentucky State University men’s basketball team fell to 11th-ranked University of Southern Indiana 92-69 Saturday.

USI center Aaron Nelson, 6-8 and 249 pounds, grabbed 27 rebounds to set s school record for most rebounds in a single game, and he scored a game-high 31 points.

The Thorobreds jumped out to a 7-3 lead but weren’t able to sustain the advantage, and Southern Indiana took the lead for good at the 14:02 mark of the first half.

Junior Ulysses Thomas III led the way offensively for the Thorobreds, finishing with 19 points and six rebounds.
Junior transfer Darrien Wilkins finished the game with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Also scoring for the Thorobreds were Darquell Pulliam with eight points, Brandon Darrett with seven, Markus Montague with six, Quentin Henderson, Tryston Ford and Johntae Alexander with four points each, Earl Ruffin Jr. with two, and Muhammed Cross with one point.

Kentucky State will take a break before getting back on the floor against Albany State Jan. 2 in Albany, Ga., in its first Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game of the season.
