ORANGEBURG, S.C. — The Kentucky State University men’s and women’s basketball teams dropped a doubleheader Thursday night at Claflin University.
The Thorobrettes lost 67-46 in the opener and the Thorobreds followed that with a 73-64 loss.
In the women’s game, KSU (4-8, 1-7) shot just 32.7 percent and was outscored 34-19 in the second half.
No player scored in double figures for the Thorobrettes, who got nine points and 10 rebounds from Teeuntra Moore and seven points and 10 rebounds from Shayla Moore. Brieona Warner had nine points and five rebounds.
The Lady Panthers (8-6, 4-0) were led by Shakiema Ravenell with 17 points and five rebounds. Uniqua Mitchell had 12 points and Brittani Goodwin 11.
In the men’s game, KSU (2-7, 1-3) shot just 10 of 31 from the foul line in the nine-point loss to CU (6-7, 3-1).
Troy Adams led the Thorobreds with 17 points. Darquell Pulliam added 15 points, Brandon Darrett nine and Ulysses Thomas III nine.
For the Panthers, Kendall Jackson scored 18 and grabbed 11 rebounds. Montel Williams also scored 18 and Quinton Nance added 15 points.
