AUGUSTA, Ga. — The Kentucky State men’s basketball team cruised to its third win of the season Monday, beating Paine College 83-61.
In the women’s game, Paine beat KSU 65-62.
The Thorobreds, now 3-8 overall and 2-4 in the SIAC, led 37-24 at halftime and played even better in the second half, shooting 61.5 percent (16 for 26).
KSU shot 50 percent from 3-point range, led by Antonio Sullivan who was 4 for 6 on 3-pointers. He finished with 18 points.
Darquell Pulliam led the Thorobreds with 19 points, going 8 for 11 from the field.
Others scoring for K-State were Markus Montague with nine points, Ulysses Thomas III and Quentin Henderson with eight points each, Troy Adams with five points, Darrien Wilkins, Brandon Darrett and Muhammed Cross with four points each, Tryston Ford with three, and Johntae Alexander with one point.
Paine (7-7, 3-2) was led by Kenny Fluellen with 16 points.
The Lady Lions (6-8, 4-1) used a 29-point performance from Ashley Watts to beat KSU in Monday’s opener.
Teeuntra Moore was KSU’s top scorer with 18 points, followed by Brieona Warner with 15 points and Shayla Moore with 10.
Rounding out the scoring for K-State were Ashley Huddleston with five points, Crystal Allen with four, Style Harper and LaShell West with three points each, and Taylor Sanders and Labria Fulmore with two points each.
Kentucky State's men's team returns home against Morehouse College Thursday at the Exum Center.
