Signing up for youth baseball and softball will be easier this season because of improvements by the Frankfort Parks, Recreation and Historic Site Department.
A new online registration system becomes operational today, according to Parks Program Director Mike Hockensmith.
“A programmer here in Frankfort has tailored a new version just for us and we’re really pleased with it,” Hockensmith said. “It’s very easy for parents to use. Just enter the player’s name and birthday, the family’s address and some contact information and that’s it. A few clicks and it’s all done.”
The online registration even allows parents to select sizes for the players’ uniforms. Also, payments of the $60 fee can be made online with debit or credit cards. Previously, payment had to be made in person at the Parks office or with paper checks.
“Several years ago, we tried online registration for our sports programs with a big national company and it didn’t work out very well,” Hockensmith said. “There were lots of little problems with it, it was clunky and sort of hard to use. Everything is easier and works faster with this new system. It’s a great step forward for our players and parents.”
Registration is underway and continues through March 15 for boys ages 5 to 15 and girls ages 5 to 14.
Team drafts will be held in mid-April with opening day set for May 5.
