Franklin County loses in regional tourney


Franklin County's boys basketball team dropped a 75-72 decision to Madison Central in the first round of the 11th Region Tournament Thursday at the Frankfort Convention Center.

FCHS had five more field goals than Madison Central, but the Indians went 30 for 42 on free throws while the Flyers were 15 for 21 from the line.

Franklin County's Rylan Rowe led all players with 30 points, and Sam Jones led MCHS with 20.

Madison Central will meet Scott County in the semifinals Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Scott County defeated Lexington Catholic 62-49 in Thursday's second game with Trent Gilbert scoring a game-high 30 points for the winning team.

Lexington Catholic had three players in double figures, led by Tanner Johnson with 16 points.
