The Bellarmine University men’s basketball team received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II National Championship Sunday night.
The Knights (23-7) are the seventh seed in the Midwest Region and will face No. 2 seed Indianapolis Saturday in Springfield, Mo. Game time has not been announced.
Bellarmine lost in the championship game of the Deaconess Great Lakes Valley Conference Basketball Tournament Sunday, falling to No. 20 Southern Indiana 86-73 in Evansville, Ind.
BU senior Vance Hall, a graduate of Franklin County High School, was one of six Knights to score in double figures.
Hall finished with 13 points, five rebounds and two assists.
The Knights played games Friday and Saturday to reach Sunday’s championship matchup.
BU defeated 19th-ranked Wisconsin-Parkside 90-78 Saturday night in the semifinals as Hall posted a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
Hall led the Knights with 26 points in their 96-81 quarterfinal win over Indianapolis Friday night. He was a major factor in the game’s final minutes as he salted away the victory nailing all eight of his free throws in the game’s final 1:51.
Bellarmine led Indianapolis, ranked eighth in the nation, wire to wire.
