SOFTBALL
FCHS hosting Capital City Showcase this weekend

Franklin County’s softball team is hosting the Capital City Showcase tournament tonight and Saturday at Lakeview Park and Sally Gaines Field.

The 15-team field is divided into four pools (one pool has three teams), and pool play begins tonight.
FCHS is in Pool C with Boone County, Spencer County and North Hardin.

The Lady Flyers will play their first game tonight at 7 against Boone County at Sally Gaines Field. This will be the only game of the tournament played at Sally Gaines Field.

They conclude pool play Saturday against North Hardin (10:30 a.m.) and Spencer County (1:30 p.m).

The top three teams in each pool advance to the single-elimination portion of the tournament, which will start at 3:30 p.m. at Lakeview Park.

The championship game is slated for 8 p.m.

The other teams in the tournament are Henry County, Bourbon County, Boyle County and Anderson County (Pool A), Warren East, Christian Academy of Louisville, Springsboro, Ohio and Shelby County (Pool B) and North Laurel, Woodford County and Collins (Pool D).

Flyers beat Anderson

LAWRENCEBURG — Franklin County’s baseball team defeated Anderson County 6-3 Thursday at Anderson County.
Quenton Brownlee was the winning pitcher, and Alex McKinney hit a home run for the Flyers.
FCHS (2-11) plays two games in Louisville Saturday at Pleasure Ridge Park. The Flyers take on PRP at 11 a.m. and face Ballard at 1:30 p.m.

YOUTH FOOTBALL
FYFL signups are Saturday

The Frankfort Youth Football League will have signups for football players and cheerleaders Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Capitol View Park.
Signups are open to children ages 5-10, and the cost is $100.
