Franklin Co. places 2nd at Governors Classic

The Franklin County girls tennis team played in the Woodford Tennis Governors Classic over the weekend, taking the second-place trophy.

The Lady Flyers’ No. 1 singles player, Kelley Barker, and No. 1 doubles team of Lili Williams and Mary Grace Amato also placed second.

Round 1
Kelley Barker (FC) defeated Tori Canning of Lexington Catholic 6-0, 6-0
Sai Marella (FC) lost to Jessica Sayler of Scott County 6-4, 6-0
Lili Williams and Mary Grace Amato (FC) defeated Reagan Jobe and Kennedy Haynes of Woodford County 6-0, 6-0
Peyton Miller and Rachel Hampton (FC) lost to Madison Rexroat and Olivia Gallagher of Scott County 6-0, 6-0

Round 2
Barker defeated Megan Berry of Woodford County 6-0, 6-1
Williams and Amato defeated Allison Fannin and Merrick Irwin of Lexington Catholic 6-4, 6-2

Consolation Round
Marella lost to Addison Beck of Woodford County 6-1, 6-3
Miller and Hampton lost to Tia The and Ashton Cole of Lexington Catholic 6-2, 6-2

Championship Round
Barker lost to Allison Quammen of Lexington Catholic 6-2, 7-5
Williams and Amato lost to Rexroat and Gallagher of Scott County 6-0, 6-2
