Western Hills won the 41st District junior varsity baseball tournament Wednesday, beating Franklin County 9-2 in the championship game at WHHS.
The Wolverines scored single runs in the first two innings and added four more in the third for a 6-0 lead.
FCHS came back with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to cut Western Hills’ lead to 6-2 going into the bottom of the sixth.
WHHS tacked on three runs in the sixth inning to make the final score 9-2.
Western Hills had nine hits, led by Tristan Terrell with two singles and a triple.
Parker Jackson hit a single and double and drove in three runs, and Luke Wheatley, Logan Etherington, Landon Arflack and Kaleb Hupp each had a base hit.
Terrell had two RBIs.
Etherington was Western Hills’ starting pitcher and went four innings with five strikeouts.
Wheatley pitched two innings, and Arflack pitched the seventh to close out the game.
The Flyers had five hits — a double and single from Logan Harp, a double by Baylor Napier and singles by Ty Ellis and Isaac Dotson.
Dotson started on the mound for FCHS and went 2 1/3 innings before being relieved by Logan Gabbard, who pitched 1 2/3 innings. T.A. Crumbaugh finished the game, pitching the last two innings.
