Luebbers signs to play at Georgetown

Ashleigh Luebbers, 17, a senior at Franklin County High School, has signed to play volleyball at Georgetown College.

Parents: Larry and Carol Luebbers.

Plans to major in: psychology.

GPA: 4.0.

Selected school because: “I liked the smaller campus and close proximity to a large city. The equine program and psychology department will help me develop my career path. I am able to continue playing volleyball and compete at the college level.”

Letters earned: volleyball (3).

Position played: outside and middle hitter, all-around player.

Chose school over: University of Kentucky. 

Honors earned: 2013 varsity team speaking captain, FCHS Lady Flyer Volleyball Future Flyer 2010, team hitting percentage 2012, most kills 2012, most blocks 2012, FEVA best server 2012, FEVA most kills 2012, 2013 all-district team, 2013 all-region team, 2013 MVP, 2013 most kills.

Franklin County coach Wesley Vance: “I thoroughly enjoyed coaching Ashleigh for the past three seasons. She worked hard to improve her physical skills, as well as becoming a very intelligent player. She has been a great example for younger players on the team. Along with her wonderful volleyball career at FCHS, she has had an excellent academic career. Her talents will be missed.”
