LEXINGTON — Western Hills’ baseball team closed out the regular season with a 1-0 victory at Dunbar Saturday.
The Wolverines (15-12) scored the game’s only run without a hit in the fifth inning.
Thomas Bennett led off the inning with a walk. He went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Seth Roush and third on a fly ball by Kyle Stevens, and he scored on a wild pitch.
WHHS had four hits — singles by Roush, Zack Barker, Tyler Anglin and Parker Jackson.
Stevens was Western Hills’ starting pitcher and went two innings. Jackson came on in relief and pitched three innings, and Barker finished the game.
Dunbar’s four hits were singles. Nick Avioli led the Bulldogs (18-13) with two base hits.
Dunbar used four pitchers — Patrick Puracchio, Nick Wideman, Jack Cress and Aaron Ochsenbein.
Western Hills’ next game is Tuesday in the 41st District Tournament at WHHS. The Wolverines play Frankfort High at 5:30 p.m.
