3-D League starts Thursday

The Frankfort Target Archery Association and Frankfort Parks, Recreation & Historic Sites are offering a 3-D Family Archery League starting Thursday and running through July 31.  
Weekly sign-in will start at 6 p.m.
The five-week league will have five divisions – NASP (ages 9-17, NASP rules and equipment), Youth (ages 9-13, any bow), Young Adult (ages 14-17, any bow), Women (ages 18 and up, any bow) and Men (ages 18 and up, any bow).
The entry fee is $25 for each division.
Registration forms are available at the Parks Office at Juniper Hill Park and at the Archery Park during hours of operation.

Buffalo Chase 5K is Friday

The 13th annual Great Buffalo Chase 5K steps off at 8 a.m. Friday, traversing a flat and level course that winds through the grounds of Buffalo Trace Distillery off Wilkinson Boulevard. Race-day registration begins at 7 and the cost is $20, which includes a commemorative T-shirt.
There are cash prizes for top male and female winners with first through third getting $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. In addition there is an incentive award of $1,000 for those who break previous course records of 13:49 for men and 16:34 for women.

Junior clinics are this week

PGA professional Kirk Schooley, the golf pro at Juniper Hill Golf Course, will be conducting junior clinics for high school teams Monday through Thursday.
There will be a boys only clinic from 9-11 a.m. each day and a girls only clinic from 10 a.m.-noon.

FCHS Dance Team scramble set for July 11
The Franklin County High School Dance Team will host its annual golf scramble at Juniper Hill Golf Course July 11.
Lunch will begin at noon, and the scramble will have a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
The cost is $45 per person with four people per team. Golfers receive green fee, cart, lunch, $10 Golfsmith discount card and certificate for Lob Wedge and Hybrid club from Warrior Cart.
Hole-in-one prize packages available for challenge on par 3s include $15,000 cash prize, Apple entertainment center, a set of Callaway golf clubs and a $750 Visa gift card.
There will be cash prizes for first and second place teams.

Harold Yeiser hit a hole-in-one on hole No. 17 at Duckers Lake Golf Resort June 19.
Witnesses to the shot were Farris Gandy, Celand White and Nelson Hicks.

Volleyball tryouts are July 16

Tryouts for the Franklin County High School volleyball team will be July 16 from 5-7 p.m. at the FCHS gym. There will be a pre-tryout practice opportunity July 15 from 6-8 p.m. 
A completed KHSAA physical and insurance form is required to try out.

Boys soccer tryouts

are set for July 16, 18
The Western Hills boys soccer team will have tryouts July 16 and 18 from 3:45-5:15 p.m. at the WHHS practice field across from Bondurant Middle School.
Those trying out must have a completed KHSAA physical form.
