Here are the results of girls softball games played recently at Lakeview Park.
Hillcrest Baptist Church, Optimist and Graviss McDonald’s won Major League softball tournament games Thursday at Lakeview Park.
Hillcrest Baptist Church Crimson Tide 18, Johnson’s Body Shop Wildcats 4
Hillcrest Baptist Church won the winners bracket by beating Johnson’s Body Shop 18-4.
Hillcrest scored three runs in the first when Logan Amburgey walked and scored on a double by Peyton Sutton. Sutton scored on a single by Taylor Amburgey, and Amelia Wilson drove in Amburgey with a base hit.
Johnson’s fought back by scoring one run when Brittany Kincaid singled, stole second and scored on a double by Madison Ellis to make the score 3-1.
The Crimson Tide put up five more runs in the second with doubles by Logan Amburgey, Anna Woolums, Wilson and Sutton and walks to Erica Tanksley and Taylor Amburgey.
Hillcrest tacked on another run in the third inning when Madison Close singled, stole second, and scored on a single by Tanksley.
Johnson’s scored three runs in the third, cutting the score to 9-4. Kincaid doubled and scored on a single by Madison Parido, and Ellis hit a triple to score Parido. Julianna Brough walked and Shelby Rhoades singled, scoring Ellis.
Hillcrest put the game out of reach in the fourth by scoring nine runs and making the score 18-4.
Woolums hit two singles, Wilson and Melissa Nesselrode singled, Sutton hit a double, and Close, Tanksle, and Kate Boyle drew walks.
For Johnson’s, Amelie Brooker and Alora Wheatley walked but were left stranded.
Sutton pitched and got the win and had 10 strikeouts for Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Rhoades pitched and had three strikeouts for Johnson’s Body Shop.
Optimist Tigers 14, KECU Hurricanes 11
KECU struck first, scoring three runs when Carly Sutton, Jordan Gaines, Kadey Purvis and Kamryn Presley walked and Cayleigh Skirvin doubled to drive in the three runs.
Optimist came back with seven runs to make the score 7-3. Bailey Cardwell singled and then Mackenzie Brooks, Corie Chisley, Sidney Edwards, Amanda Jones, Chloe Phelps, Bronzie Peach, Brooke Keith and Kayla Schultz all walked.
In the second, KECU tacked on seven more runs when Brooklyn Perry, Laryn Bishop, Gaines, Purvis, Sadie Weaver and Ellie Dales walked and Sutton and Skirvin singled to make the score 10-7 in favor of the Hurricanes.
The Tigers responded with seven runs to make the score 14-10. Brooks, Chisley, Edwards, Peach, Keith, Schultz and Faith Lewis walked and Cardwell and Morgan Shipley singled.
In the third, KECU scored one run on walks to Allie Trent, Bishop, Sutton and Purvis.
Edwards and Lewis pitched and combined for the win for the Optimist tigers.
Bishop and Dales pitched for KECU Hurricanes.
Graviss McDonald’s Bulldogs 17, Staxx BBQ Cowboys 16
Staxx BBQ scored one run in the first on t walks to Allegra Renfroe, Zania Tutwiler and Alijah Starks.
Graviss McDonald’s responded with 13 runs to make the score 13-1. Ashleigh Caudell, Ann Kelemen, Ainye’ Rogers walked, and Chloe Hammond, Danielle Hockensmith and Taylor Redmon singled.
Staxx scored 14 runs in the top of the second to take the lead 15-13. Brittany Woolums, Grayson Strasburger, Kaylin Mullins, Hailey McKaig, Ryleigh Darnell, Ariana Steele, Iyanei Jackson, Tutwiler and Starks walked, Ayoina Mays-Clark ripped a triple, Renfroe hit a double and McKenna Teasley had a single.
The Bulldogs responded with two runs to tie the score at 15-15. Vanessa Jones and Caudell walked and Hockensmith, Kelemen and Hammond singled.
In the third, Staxx BBQ scored one run to take the lead 16-15. Jackson walked, Renfroe hit into a fielder’s choice, Teasley walked, and Tutwiler doubled to score the run.
Down one, Rogers and Jones walked, Caudell hit into a fielder’s choice, and Hockensmith, Kelemen and Hammond walked to score two runs and win the game 17-16.
Kelemen and Hammond pitched and combined for the win for Graviss McDonald’s.
Starks and McKenna Teasley pitched for Staxx BBQ.
The Diamonds, Angels and Wizards won opening round tournament games Friday in the Instructional League softball tournament at Lakeview Park.
On Monday in the semifinals, the Diamonds will take on the Wildcats, and the Angels will meet the Wizards.
The championship game is set for Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Here’s a look at the Friday games.
Diamonds 13, Dazzlers 2
Riley Dawson and Cameryn Ridderikhoff each homered and hit two singles for the Diamonds. Other hitters were Hannah Dawson with three singles; Braxten Miller, Karis Nickell and Belle Quarles with two singles apiece; and Kilee McGowen, Hadley Hurst and Nahkia Morgan with one single apiece.
For the Dazzlers, Rhys Staples singled twice. Sadie Dungan, Hannah Drury, Faith League and Kayleigh Marshall hit one single apiece.
Angels 6, Flames 5
The Angels rallied with two runs in its final at-bat to get the win with Ashlyn Willard driving in the winning run.
All of the hits in this game were singles.
Larissa Abbott and Kendall Cook had three each for the Angels. Williard, Corynn Richie and Haley Early had two, and Kayden Olds, Haley Harrod, Alyson Sewell and Brooklynn Coley had one apiece.
For the Flames, Presley Fell and Kate Rush hit three hits while Taylor Gaines, Ann Marie Justice, Sadie Cook and Kasey Cheung had two apiece. Samantha O’Brien and Makenzie Green added hits.
Wizards 14, Sluggers 9
Molly Wooldridge hit a home run, double and single for the Wizards. Alli Yount doubled and singled twice. Makayla Muravchick and Chloe Simpson each doubled and singled. Isabella Bryant and Maseyn Hedges each singled twice. Caroline Gregory, Holland Riddell and Mallory Fint added one single apiece.
Avery Lofton and Alex Dutta both doubled and singled twice for the Sluggers. Layla Roberts and Piper Hankins hit two singles each while Ellie Hall, Madison McCoy, Hannah Green and Makaylee Brock hit one single apiece.
