The KECU Diamondbacks capped off a perfect season on Tuesday by defeating the Frankfort Rotary Rangers 7-1 at East Frankfort Park in the Frankfort Parks and Recreation Minor League championship game.
The Diamondbacks finished with a 14-0 record. They scored two runs in the first inning, two in the third inning and three in the fourth inning.
Cameron McDonald and Hunter Carpenter each had a double and Carson Walls, Matthew Stallard and Drake Byrd each had a single. All five players had a RBI for the Diamondbacks.
Walls scored two runs, while McDonald, Stallard, Byrd, Amari Mays-Clark and Will Bright scored one run each.
Walls was also the starting pitcher for the Diamondbacks. In three innings of work, he struck out six batters. Byrd pitched two innings in relief and struck out three batters.
The Rangers scored their only run in the fifth inning when Gabriel True led off with a triple and later scored. Other Rangers with hits in the game were Colin O’Brien with a triple, Stephen Parido with a double and Caleb Frazee with a single.
Logan Disponette was the starting pitcher for the Rangers. He pitched two innings and struck out three batters. True and Huston Monarch each pitched one inning and struck out a batter.
The Rangers finished the season with an 11-4 record.
