The Hillcrest Baptist Church Crimson Tide captured the championship game of the Major League girls softball tournament Tuesday, shutting out Johnson’s Body Shop Wildcats 12-0 Tuesday at Lakeview Park.
The two teams met in the winners bracket final Thursday with the Crimson Tide winning 18-4.
The Wildcats defeated the Graviss McDonald’s Bulldogs in the losers bracket final Friday, setting up the rematch with the Crimson Tide.
Hillcrest Baptist Church got off to a quick start Tuesday, scoring 10 runs in the first inning.
Logan Amburgey, Peyton Sutton, Taylor Amburgey, Kylie Johnson and Anna Woolums all had a base hit, Amelia Wilson singled twice, and Madison Close, Kate Boyle, Logan Amburgey, Sutton and Taylor Amburgey all drew walks. Two more runs came across in the second inning on two walks and a double by Erica Tanksley.
Johnson’s Body Shop had two base runners — Madison Ellis drew a walk and Raygan Shepard was hit by a pitch.
Sutton pitched for the Crimson Tide and struck out six batters.
Shelby Rhoades was the Wildcats’ pitcher and recorded one strikeout.
