Frankfort Capitals fall to Anderson Co. in opening round

The Frankfort Capitals lost to the Anderson County All-Stars, 7-4, in the first round of the East Frankfort Kiwanis Invitational baseball tournament Thursday at Paul Weddle Field.
Getting hits for Frankfort were Reed Miklavcic and AJ Cox with two singles each; Jake Hanna, Jerry Brewer, Skyler Sutton and Zach Waldrop with a single each; Connor Purvis with a double; and Wyatt Strasburger with a home run.
Brandon Webb pitched all six innings for the Capitals and had seven strikeouts.
Getting hits for Anderson County were Sam Harrod with three singles; Chase Smith with two doubles; Spencer Davis and Reece Reynolds with two singles each; Gabe Lewitt with a single and double; and Jagger Gillis with a home run.
JT Warford started for Anderson County and recorded five strikeouts in three innings pitched.
Harrod struck out one batter in one inning of relief. Tyler Rice pitched the last two innings and struck out a batter.
Frankfort will play Scottsville today in the loser’s bracket at 3 p.m. Scottsville lost to Jessamine County, 7-6, in the final first round game Thursday.
The game lasted only five innings because of a time limit.
