Riddle, Arnold playing well
Two former area baseball standouts, J.T. Riddle and Zach Arnold, are enjoying very productive summers — Riddle in Class A ball with the Greensboro Grasshoppers and Arnold in a college league in Wisconsin.
Riddle has had a consistently hot second half of the season for Greensboro, raising his batting average to .275, with 108 hits in 393 at-bats. The former Western Hills and University of Kentucky star has nine home runs and 51 runs batted in.
The Grasshoppers are three games behind Hagerstown in the Northern Division of the South Atlantic League, with two weeks left in the regular season.
Arnold, a former Franklin County star and a junior at UK, made the post-season All-Star unit for the Wisconsin Woodchucks of the Northwoods League. Arnold played in 44 games, hitting .304 with 42 hits in 138 appearances at the plate and driving in 21 runs.
Arnold had a 19-game hitting streak from June 30 to Aug. 1.
