Governor’s Open set for this weekend

The 50th Governor’s Open golf tournament, sponsored by Farmers Bank, is being played this weekend at Juniper Hill.
The event kicked off this morning with the pro-am.
There will be 36 holes of stroke play Saturday and Sunday. Tee times Saturday run from 7:30-9:20 a.m. and 12:30-2:30 p.m. with play starting at No. 1 and No. 10.
Defending pro champion Ryan Martin will tee off No. 1 at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Bryan Conway, the 2009 pro champion, starts at No. 1 at 1:50.
Will Beard, who won the amateur division last year, isn’t in this year’s field, but there are several past amateur champions who will be competing.
They include Mike Damron, Chad Dawson, Jon Tandy, Benji Broadwater, Bruce Walters and John Brooks.
The amateurs tee off No. 10 Saturday afternoon with Damron starting at 1:30. Dawson and Tandy tee off at 1:50, and Broadwater, Walters and Brooks tee off at 2. The Juniper Hill Golf Association hosts the tournament.
