Western Hills High School student and prosecutor Kate Slone asks witness and fellow student John Caldwell questions during the students’ mock trial at the Franklin County Courthouse on Friday morning.
The mock trial, which was a part of the students’ AP Government and Global Studies classes, centered around a fake murder case. The students each took on courtroom roles, such as lawyer, jury member, witness, bailiff and court reporter.
Geoff Cody, the students’ teacher, acted as the judge for the classes. He said this was the first group of his students to go to the courthouse for a mock trial. In the past, trials were held at the school.
