Several local athletes have received at-large bids to the state track and field meets, joining those who had already qualified by finishing first or second in their events at the regional level.
Frankfort will compete in the Class A state meet Thursday at the University of Kentucky. Receiving at-large bids are Katie Norman in the 100-meter dash and Ronnie Moore in the long jump.
They join the boys 4x200-meter relay team of Will O'Bryan, Moore, Jevon Bush and Henry Higbee; Will Lairson in the unified shot put; and unified 2x200-meter relay with Callie Perry, who qualified at last week's regional meet.
Franklin County and Western Hills will compete in the Class 2A meet Friday at UK.
Additional qualifiers for WHHS are Jett Bradley in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters; Carson Graves in the 400-meter dash; Carrington Mumphrey in the 300-meter hurdles; Perrin Whitt in the pole vault; the girls 4x100-, 4x200- and 4x400-meter relay teams; and the boys 4x400-meter relay team.
Running on the girls relays at the regional meet were Aija Hogan, Madelyn Muller, Brie Winkfield and Jayda Robertson (4x100); Graves, Mumphrey, Robertson and Hogan (4x200); and Robertson, Graves, Emily Harrod and Mumphrey (4x400).
Carlos Gonzalez, Josh Howard, Bryson Porter and Robertson ran on the boys 4x400 relay.
For FCHS, additional qualifiers are Bria Wilson in the 100-meter dash; Makena Gillion in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters; Taeshawn Graves in the 300-meter hurdles; Rebecca Bloemer in the discus throw; the girls 4x200-meter relay team; and the boys 4x100-meter relay teams.
Jaydan Wallace, Shavi Kennedy, Wilson and Justice Wiser ran on the girls 4x200 relay at last week's regional meet, and Trivi Kennedy, Fred Farrier, Ike Boling and Brice Tucker ran on the boys 4x100 relay.
Those who had already qualified for Western Hills were Muller (100, 200, long jump); James Robertson (100, 200, 400); Jayda Robertson (200); Griffin Staude (3,200); Morgan Hammond (unified shot put, long jump, 2x50 relay with James Robertson and 2x200 relay with Dillon Withers); and Carter Stinnett (pole vault).
Franklin County athletes who qualified at the regional meet were Shavi Kennedy (100); Trivi Kennedy (100, 200); Farrier (triple jump); Laken Ellis (300 hurdles); girls 4x100-meter relay team (Wilson, Kennedy, Ellis, Jayde Combs); and the boys 4x200-meter relay team (Farrier, Kennedy, Boling, Brice Tucker).
