Recent rains and snow melt caused the Kentucky River to flood. It was expected to crest at 39.9 feet at 1 a.m. on Thursday, March 4. Flood stage for the river is 31 feet. The last time the river crested above 40 feet was on May 5, 2010, when it rose to 42.84 feet — the fifth highest crest of all time.
