ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) — The body of a 19-year-old man was found Wednesday in a lake in central Kentucky, a day after he was reported in distress.

Kenneth Robertson of Hardin County was found dead near where he was last seen, Elizabethtown Police Department spokesman Chris Denham told news outlets. The body was found in Freeman Lake in about 20 feet of water, he said.

Robertson, who had been kayaking, had left the kayak, and around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, he was reported in distress. Authorities in boats and dive teams searched until early Wednesday, then resumed around 11 a.m. He was found shortly before 3:30 p.m.

Denham said a life jacket was found in the kayak.
