You Asked: What is going in the building where Gatti’s Pizza used to be?

In need of a newer building with a better layout, Kenvirons Inc. is refitting the space formerly occupied by Gatti’s Pizza at 770 Wilkinson Blvd. to accommodate a professional office.

The civil and environmental engineering firm moved into its current location, 452 Versailles Road (previously the Frankfort Country Club), in the early 1980s. Prior to that, the business, which opened in 1975, was in the Whitaker Bank building (formerly the State National Bank building), at 130 W. Main St. downtown.

“It’s about the same size (as the current building),” Leah Gearhart, administrative assistant, said of the new location at 770 Wilkinson Blvd., which was built in 2009. “It’ll be a lot better because it’s on one floor instead of two.”

Kenvirons Inc., which serves customers nationwide, provides engineering services in a range of areas, including water and wastewater, environmental assessments, air and water quality, coal combustion residuals, surveying, sampling and environmental monitoring.

According to records obtained from Franklin County Property Valuation Administrator’s office, Riverside Property Group LLC purchased the property from Fifth Third Bank on March 25, 2014, for $700,000. Roughly a year prior to that, Lark Enterprises Inc. sold the property to Fifth Third Bank for $1 million.

The property, including 5.6 acres along the riverfront, is valued at $800,000 — more than half of which, $550,000, is the land value.

Gearhart said the firm hopes to move into the Wilkinson Boulevard location in October. She added that the Versailles Road location is currently for sale.
